Pilgrimage with Immaculee & Franciscan University's Fr.  Dave Pivonka, TOR '89 in Rwanda - March 15 - 25th, 2025

Immaculee Ilibagiza and Fr. Dave Pivonka, TOR ’89 have come together to create a custom pilgrimage trip to Rwanda and Our Lady of Kibeho. This custom trip is open to all interested individuals.

Join Immaculee and Fr. Dave in experiencing the blessings and beauty of Kibeho, Rwanda. This rural community is the site of the only Vatican-approved Marian apparition site on the African continent. Nestled in the hills of Rwanda, this pristine and serene location is unlike any other place of worship on Earth. In addition to spending multiple days in Kibeho, Immaculee has arranged spiritual, historical, and cultural experiences only a Rwandan can provide. This is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

ARRIVAL DAY - KIGALI

Meet representatives of pilgrimage at KGL Airport for ground transfer to Blue Veil Villas.

What to expect:

  • Exceptional Rwandan hospitality, amenities, and cuisine at Blue Veil Villas: a four-star, private retreat center reserved entirely for our pilgrims. 
  • Daily group discussions led by Immaculee regarding Our Lady of Kibeho, Rwanda, and the 1994 genocide. 
  • Group and private prayer at the Shrine of Our Lady of Kibeho. Kibeho is the only Vatican-approved Marian apparition site in Africa.
  • Daily Mass celebration with Fr. Dave Pivonka, TOR ’89  
  • Rwandan cultural experiences arranged by Immaculee.
  • Exclusive access to various sites, including Immaculee’s childhood home in Kibuye, along the shores of Lake Kivu. 
  • A day on safari in Rwanda’s premiere national park, Akagera. This park is home to most of the Africa’s greatest animals, including the Big Five.

Conclude pilgrimage and prepare for Departure.  Note: Most North American-bound departures are in the evening. 

TIPPING: At the Blue Veil Villa, you are taken care of the entire time by a team of twenty staff members who take care of our every need. They include top class chefs, wait staff, room caretakers,laundry service, busboys, valets, and a professional bus driver. Tips will be collected on the final day, and we kindly ask that you consider $10 per pilgrim per day to be divided among the staff.

*Most pilgrims are booked on Delta/KLM departs JFK Airport on Sat, March 15 at 6:50pm and arrives back into JFK on Tues. March 25 at 3:35pm. Please contact kbedford@carrouseltravel.com for assistance with your booking or you may book your own travel. 

When booking, please plan to depart U.S. on March 15th and arrive in Kigali on March 16th. You will be picked up at the airport by the Blue Veil Staff even if you arrive on a different airline at a different time. Our greeter will meet you outside of baggage claim with a Blue Veil Villa Immaculee Pilgrimages Sign.  

Plan to depart Kigali on March 24th, arriving back in the U.S. on the 25th.

 

You are NOT required to buy a tourist visa through the airline, you can easily pay the $60 tourist visa secured/paid upon arrival into Kigali Airport. 

 

There are currently NO Vaccine Requirements for entry into Rwanda. Malaria is low threat, and daily medicine is optional and a personal decision.

Dress: 60-80 degrees year round with So. California climate. Comfortable, modest dress is recommended. Comfortable walking shoes and  No shorts as Rwanda is a modest conservative country   Rain jackets and a sweater are recommended for evenings  umbrellas are provided by Blue Veil

As 2020 brings unforeseen shipping delays and increased carrier costs, it's more important than ever to keep your shipping policy up to date with the following key points in mind:

  • Essential shipping details are easy to find. While it is common practice to keep a link to your shipping policy page in the footer of your website, consider how you can also surface important shipping details in the right place at the right time (e.g. on your product page or website banner).
  • Clear and concise presentation. Don’t make customers comb through your shipping policy page for the information they need. Whenever possible, make it easy to navigate with clear subheadings, tables, bolded text, and links to learn more.
  • Order processing times. After an order is placed, how many days will it take to get it ready to ship? It’s worth communicating if you’re excluding weekends and/or holidays, and if you have certain cutoff times for processing orders (e.g. orders received after 5pm will be processed the next business day). If changes occur within your supply chain, due to peak periods or as a result of COVID-19, you should update your processing times to reflect it.
  • Domestic and international shipping options. What are the qualifying regions for your domestic shipping options? International shipping can be broken down in its own section where you list the countries you ship to and estimated delivery timelines. If you offer several shipping options, you can list them in a table so the information is easy to scan. Shipping costs. Break down your shipping costs for the customer. If you have a free shipping threshold, you can communicate in various places as an incentive for customers. Any potential surprise fees should be surfaced too, such as duties and taxes the customer may incur.
